“This is not what real leaders do”

Restless Development responds UK foreign aid cuts.

Rosanne Palmer-White, Restless Development’s UK Director, said:

“We are incredibly disappointed to see that the cuts to the foreign aid budget have not been reversed today. Unfortunately, these further measures will have a very real and devastating impact on communities across the globe for years to come. While it might seem that things are starting to return to normal in the UK, that is not the case for the many communities and young people that we work with globally.

“In spite of these many challenges, young people are continuing to lead change in communities facing huge challenges.  Restless Development will continue to support young people and their actions as they tackle the global pandemic, inequality and climate injustice.  We will continue to campaign with young people to call for 0.7% to be reinstated.

“Right now, the world needs leadership to help us emerge from this pandemic – cutting lifesaving aid at such a crucial moment is not what real leaders do.

“We want to thank the UK MPs who voted to keep their manifesto promise today and stand up for communities around the world.”
