Youth Take the Lead

Shared learning to unleash Youth Power.

Youth take the lead is an ongoing project developing young leadership in youth from Nepal, South Africa and Tanzania to building leadership by working together. The project aims to unleash the power create a positive impact in their respective communities. It is a 6 months exchange program that began from 2019 which is done in a partnership with Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC).

Youth Take the Lead volunteers have been able to reach 1,092 young people through their programs.

Sharpening Youth leadership skills.

Youth Take the Lead (YTL) promotes meaningful youth engagement practices in CSOs and youth leadership among stakeholders in Nepal, Tanzania and South Africa (2019-2020). YTL also executes effective mobilization of alumni for implementation of advocacy initiatives.

Achievements.

Through the Youth Take the Lead project (2021-2022), the volunteers have been able to execute four different National Dialogues, and two Global Dialogues. These dialogues were organized on topics like Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, Mental Health, Global Citizenship, Youth Unemployment among others. As the volunteers are provided with training and tools, they are able to continue advocating outside of the NOREC project. Hence, this project has a wide reach and effect.

Apart from that, volunteers have carried out Youth consultation on Global Citizenship Toolkit (Tanzania and Nepal). They have provided training to CSOs on organizational development, training to young people on leadership and organizational development, delivered meaningful youth engagement Training to CSOs, and have been able to carry out a Finance and Admin policy session where young people get to participate and enhance their skills.

The Youth Take the lead volunteers also organized a three-day training to capacitate six youth Led CSOs on the capacity gaps identified through CSO assessment. The CSOs were trained on organizational development, strategic planning, M&E Framework, fundraising and partnership.
